I Chose
Standard Edition
3. After Installation is complete, Navigate to the Start Button. Go to Programs,
then to Oracle.
4. Click on Configuration and Migration Tools. Then click on Net Configuration
Assistant
5. When the Net Configuration Assistant Opens there are 4 choices, click on
"Local Net Service Name Configuration" and click Next.
6. There is only one option clicked on which is "add". Click Next.
7. This window will ask for the Service Name. Type in calc9i .
8. This next window will have "TCP" highlighted, so just click Next.
9. Next, this window will ask for the Host name, type in "oracle9i.utep.edu",
click Next.
10. Then it will ask if you would like to perform a test. Click Yes, then Click
Next.
11. The test will fail. Click on the "change login" box. Type in your "springxx"
and password that was given to us. It will automatically test again and pass.
Click Next.
12. The Net Service Name box should be automatically filled in with "calc9i".
13. It will now ask if you would like to set up another name, click "no", then
click Next.
14.It will say it is complete, click Next, and it will bring you back to the
first window. Click Finish.
15. Go to start, oracle, sql plus, and sign in like we did in class.
This is all the leg work to get it up and running from your house or laptop.
