The best part of the course to me is the relax atmosphere and the test are right off rhe quizzes you take online. There are no tricks and a lot of treats if you do your quizzes online and the online questions there is no reason you can not walk out of the class with an A, and a B if you don't do all your quizzes.

I kept looking at my schedule because it was a CIS class and I kept asking my self, where are the computers? But the best part of the class is during the games, amazing scores huh? I was thinking maybe you can give us extra credit for the NEGATIVE SCORES instead of the positive ones. We all be making straight A's lol

besides the games, i think there should be another type of review to really help us prepare for the exam. It would definitely be more beneficial for students who complete all the assignments but don't do so well on the tests(like myself).

The relaxed envirornment. In a semester filled with strict and hard-core teachers and classes, it is a relief to have a class in which you can relax and just listen. The homework assignments and quizes are not too overwhelming.

I don't like the uncertainty of the content of the tests. All of the questions from the tests are located in the practice questions, but sometimes it can be too much trying to study from 150 to 200 questions. Specially when you have 3 other tests on the same week or even day.

The best part of the course is learning about the history of information systems and how it has evolved. The slide show presentations are informational and the picture contained in the final one, "Any Questions?" is hillarious. The jeopardy test review is my favorite.

The bad part of the course is that there is an immensive amount of information that the professor needs to communicate to the students that there is rarely any student and teacher interaction or class dicussions.

For me the best part of the course would be the environment and the tone of your voice when you give lecture. Its a real relaxing class, and I also enjoy the fact that its not that boring. I thought it was going to be a very boring class but that's just because I personally am not to fond of the technology part of this world. But so far I have learned what this course has to offer so far, being that we still have another month or so until the semester is over with. Another thing that I like is the fact that we can do our assignments at home and with enough time so that it doesn't put that much pressure on my other classes. Oh and I liked how you did the whole jeopardy bit in class before the exam that was fun, not too many professors would take the time to humor us like that, thank you.

Sometimes the lectures seem a little too long but then again most courses are like that, we have to be taught as much as we can in the little amount of time that a semester has to offer. I also feel that the online quizzes are some what to lengthy, however like I mentioned before it is a lot of information that has to be learned and will benefit us in the future. I dont have that much to comment on in this section because the class does interest me, and I am grasping things that will help my career in the long run.

I would like to point out two things which in my opinion make this class stand from the rest. The first one is the humor used in class to explain the different topics covered and that the professor does not just focus on reading the slides but provides deeper explanations. Second, is the flexibility with the course times. I really appreciate the professors openess with how much time we spent in the classroom after we, as class, have covered the required material.

The thing I like most about this class is most of the work is done online. Because the grading is very fast. This course feel like a memorization class , so this class is considered very easy for most student. Memorization is my weakness. I have a short term memory.

Upfront, I like the online practice questions – great studying tool! And, I think that the course is prepared to address essential topics with general information on CIS (after all it is an introductory course). Most individuals may not really care to identify the gist of “how” a computer system works or the complexity involved in placing a cell-phone call. It is "as if" the common usage of these systems were taken for granted. I find it interesting to learn how these things operate and I don't simply attribute their effectiveness / efficiency to “magic.” I think this introductory course could possibly serve to discover the enthusiast and suggest that one pursue more in-depth education on CIS.

The complaint would be the air conditioning! I cannot understand the neglect or lack of communication (from the maintenance department) on why this is an ongoing problem! This shows no consideration for students and raises concern on how computer systems are not being kept in cool areas. I think a couple of days should suffice in correcting the problem, however, it’s been nearly two weeks! The UGLC and Library are kept cold – perhaps relocating the classes would be an idea. Regarding the class – nothing wrong with the format. It is going at a rather fast pace which is expected for a summer course – and with the heat – I much appreciate the fast pace. So in essence, there is nothing wrong with the course structure.

The online quizzes could be graded instantly. Perhaps, these could be set up to provide students with an immediate graded response at the end of taking the quiz. I have taken online courses that have both quizzes and exams available on a timed basis and provide a score at the end. That is just a suggestion. I mean, I could wait for the grade but why is this necessary with the technology being available.

The best part of this course is that we are able to have some freedom to come and go in the class. I had a professor once that won't allow you to come back if you left the class. So if you really had to go to the restroom, you had to make the choice of staying or peeing in your pants!

I think you're a pretty good lecturer. I like the class cause, well, I am a nerd and this stuff intrigues me. I like how you relate all this computer stuff to our daily lives and the things around us. Also, I like knowing that the questions online pertain to the tests. You said so yourself that all these courses are taught the same, well, that's not good. The quizzes are full of errors and somethings that make absolutely no sense. Errors were every where and the system doesn't stop to ask you if you are sure you'd like to submit (submitted one of my quizzes on accident once because of this). A simple Java App would easily solve this. The website needs lots of improvement, more so the questions...

For me I believe the best part of the course is the length of time it takes to complete another requirement needed to reach my final goal. This is my first wintermester and although I recieved only 2.5hrs of sleep last night (partially due to a my wife and I's newborn) I have enjoyed the challenge of the quick-paced course although my eyes have gotten heavy a time or two. I am glad that the opportunity exists to use this time to complete the course in a two week period.

Although the material is sometimes challenging to get excited about; the "ugliest" part of the course is no fault of your own. I take my education very seriously and I have an even harder time paying attention to the lecture when the student in front of me insists on surfing the web and checking his facebook, or emial, and managing his files. I am not using any financial aid and I am determined to get as much as I can out of your course as with all of my courses. I feel that this student's actions are not isolated, however, I wish he would sit in the rear of class as not to be such a distraction. I am debating on whether or not to inform him of my disatisfaction with his in-class activities; as it is I have a hard time not voicing my feelings and I hope I can address the issue with a certain amount of couth.

Although I am disappointed with some people's activities, I know that some students use their laptops constructively during lecture. I would suggest that you request people using their laptops to sit in the rear of the class as they should be doing on their own. I actually learned that this would be proper etiquette from my Education 1300 course required at the community college. It only makes sense.

The references we submit online make us investigate more about the topics and let us find updated information about what we have been talking in class. You started chapter four but did not finish it, you started chapter five and at the middle of chapter five you again switched to chapter four. Based on my prior lack of knowledge about computer information systems, I recognize the powerpoint presentations as the best part about the course. Since I had no need or interest prior to have been taken this class the only thing that have kept my interest and sustained an average grade in this class have been the detailed vivid powerpoint presentations. Apart from the informative slides I believe that the pkirs website has also helped me become a more interactive student allowing me to do my assingments with more freedom and when i have the time.

Of course there is always something about something you never like, as human nature I rebel against our assigned references. Throught the semester i have not found a good use in entering references, I admit to take less than 2 minutes of dedication to the references. I find no profound logic or benefit to assign the references other than to help your grade, which I admit does not bother me at all.

Overall I believe the course itself is a hard and time consuming. There is so much I have learn based on my zero knowledge about computer information systems. I am glad this is not my career of choice, but have found great admiration for the people that do so. This course I believe is good as it is. I would only recommend to somehow enforce the references by somehow applying them as extra credit points on the exam or maybe by discussing them in class and get interaction points.

Well first off the fact the proffessor is speaks fluet enlish and that he really knows what he is talking about, which is great!! Because not all proffessor unfortunately are like that. In the future, probable improvements, or rather a little bit of fun, may be to incorporate Wi-Fi technology to interact with the given PowerPoint presentations, which many if not all the students within the class already have. The anonymous aspect (pseudonym) of students presenting questions wirelessly may encourage more participation and a better handle of the material. This benefit works both ways, of course, by giving you real-time statistics of what we, the students, have a strong or weak grasp of by utilizing quick polling or question/answer sessions built into PowerPoint itself-just a thought.

The course is very interesting and Professor Peters is very knowledgeable on the subject. The assignments are relatively easy and are done in a couple of minutes. I really like the idea of the exams consisting of questions that are part of our on-line quizzes.Unlike other courses, where teachers say to study certain parts, and come test day the test consists of material the students are not aware of. This is very helpful for us students. Also the professor uses real-world examples that relate to the material. This is helpful for us because we can understand better the subject.

Throughout the course of this semester's (well...) 'course', I came in with no expectations and no real concept of what it was going to entail. Although, I do show up late to the class at times, I do enjoy going because of the small classroom feeling that you emit through personal real world examples and interactions amongst us.

People realize that they really do not have to show up to class to pass. I personally do not know the other student's grades that do not show up but a grand majority seem to be passing. If I were a professor I would be on either of two sides:careless for the fact that few students show up (they are the ones paying for the course) or I would require them to show up through impromptu verbal quizzes to make the students understand the material. All in all, perhaps this is why I enjoy going to class because it is a very personal setting open for discussion.

A very good thing that would help out students a lot is if there was any way to update the website as to where students are sure their assignments were submitted properly. After you submit an assignment through this website it displays a confirmation form but when you return to form, everything is blank and makes you doubt about your work being properly submitted. Therefore, I believe a very good way to keep students informed about their progress is if there was a way to quickly grade quizzes/references in case there was any technical problems..or if is not possible to grade them that quickly, at least to display a SUBMITED in the class standings after the pseudonym of the student.That way, if students see that they are doing good, it will keep them motivated to stay in this class and not dropping.

Perhaps you might want to use the slides a little less and explain more visually. Not necessarily hands on but something that will have the class attention. Go over things we see in an everyday basis, word, excel, presentations with professional graphs, and the tricks of how to make it work for you. Computer programming can be fun and interesting but I haven't seen you explain it in such a way that it gets anyone's attention. Since this isn't my major you probably expected someone to say this, but I believe even if it was after this class I would reconsider. Make it more entertaining and more fun fact class. Seems like you have been using the same presentation for a couple of years..maybe its time to update information.

I really enojoy the information on the slides where is shows the different ways management will have to deal with IT.On how every department in the business deals with computers , networks, intranets, etc. It is intresting to see how computers have changed so much over the years, from huge computers to touch screen and many more intresting features. Jeff and Paul showed up right at 9am and we worked them into the ground for the next 13 hours. I loved the option of having us help and provide our own helpers to speed things up and keep the cost down. Jeff was all about getting us moved as fast as possible and taking great care of all our stuff. It took a bit longer than any of us anticipated and despite the chaos that comes with moving your whole life after 12 years we had a great time! jIt's not often you can say you had a great time with your moving guys and never once had to question what they were doing or how they went about getting our stuff in or out of the van. They are pros and really do a great job of giving helpful direction to rookies. We hired my friend's 21 year old son and his friend to help out and with awesome direction from Jeff and Paul the move went off without a hitch.We would recommend Jeff and the We Move It team to anyone for any size project. The bill was more than fair and we could not have done it without them. I was shocked that having the aid of a mover was that inexpensive. We have rented the U-Haul and had friends help in prior moves and that always turns into a total zoo and it costs way more than you anticipate. Having professionals at the helm to guide our weary crew into the wee hours of the night was invaluable. P.S. It was so much fun we all went to dinner afterward just to celebrate our extreme exhaustion! Call Jeff and skip the do-it-yourself disaster in the making. You'll be glad you did

Jeff and Paul showed up right at 9am and we worked them into the ground for the next 13 hours. I loved the option of having us help and provide our own helpers to speed things up and keep the cost down. Jeff was all about getting us moved as fast as possible and taking great care of all our stuff. It took a bit longer than any of us anticipated and despite the chaos that comes with moving your whole life after 12 years we had a great time! jIt's not often you can say you had a great time with your moving guys and never once had to question what they were doing or how they went about getting our stuff in or out of the van. They are pros and really do a great job of giving helpful direction to rookies. We hired my friend's 21 year old son and his friend to help out and with awesome direction from Jeff and Paul the move went off without a hitch.We would recommend Jeff and the We Move It team to anyone for any size project. The bill was more than fair and we could not have done it without them. I was shocked that having the aid of a mover was that inexpensive. We have rented the U-Haul and had friends help in prior moves and that always turns into a total zoo and it costs way more than you anticipate. Having professionals at the helm to guide our weary crew into the wee hours of the night was invaluable. P.S. It was so much fun we all went to dinner afterward just to celebrate our extreme exhaustion! Call Jeff and skip the do-it-yourself disaster in the making. You'll be glad you did

The analogies and situations that Professor Kirs uses to explain certain lessons are extremely helpful (I still think of binary code like the light switch example). I think Professor Kirs is extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter and it's obvious through the course that he likes it, which makes the class even better.

A ton of the information is directly on the website so if you miss class, catching up is not a problem at all. Content within the slides is sure to show itself again on the exams and the need to read from the textbook is absent with all the other resources available to the students. The time in between exams is distributed well and online quizzes are helpful enough to gauge the students current knowledge of the course teachings.

Lecture is extremely dragging only because the instructor speaks in a very monotone voice so paying attention is difficult even if you sit in front of the class. Some examples are useful but its tough understanding much of what is going on in-class and especially outside when the language being used is purely technical. Often times the course seems like only a memorization class where the online quizzes are the only thing worth paying attention to because they are mirrored from the future exams.

I believe the only way the class is going to get any better is by telling the teacher to use even an ounce of energy when speaking to the students. If the lack of enthusiasm for the course continues to persist, many students will continue to fail and others will simply ass never gaining any new information from the course. With all of this being said, the most extreme measure I can think of would be to remove the instructor from the course entirely if this problem has already shown itself in the past.

I really enjoy this website. It makes the class much easier to follow along and has a lot fewer problems than other sites that come to mind (Blackboard...). What I would personally change about the course is engage the students more. I understand most of the students want nothing to do with the course just want the credit, but if it is more interactive students will learn and have to be a part of the class. You will learn a lot of information in this class, I feel like if you can ask me what are the different e-Commerce processes, I can tell you by memory. The professor knows what he is talking about, and it helps that he shows videos about most topics. He never reads word for word on his powerpoints and it made class easier to pay attention to and gain new knowledge. As long as you study the on-line questions, you will do great on the tests because it is exactly the same.

Since it was a 4-week course, I felt overwhelmed at times because it is very fast paced. The 3rd week of class we had two test so I had to study 6 chapters. I guess that is what it takes during summer, but I survived. I am actually glad a took this class as a summer course because I never procrastinated or became lazy because you can fall behind very fast!

I am not sure that I would have an impartial feedback on this course. As I have told you I took the exact same course at Texas Tech, but lost credit in transfer articulation. I enjoy your lectures, but sometimes fail to see where it applies to the performance of my overall grade.
