The best part would be the simplicity of the course and the vast information from the lecture slides. I honestly liked that attendance was not a major requirement and if you happened to miss class you would not fall behind since all the information was posted on your website. I also like how simple it was to take and submit the online quizzes and online references. I still dont quite see the need to post online references since it was basically all the same info as the lecture slides, the quizzes however were simple and easy. This made the preparation for the exams much easier thank you .

The bad part would be that some of the lectures were honestly boring and made time drag badly, hence making the long trip over here not worth it. But then again some courses come to bite us in the butox later on and we see that we actually learned something. And I must admit that technology is not one of my strong points I accept and acknowledge that we are growing and changing I simply dont like having to learn about it.

I recommend a revision of both the power point slides and online questions in order to delete some duplicates on both. Additionally, there is some inconsistencies between what the slide establishes as a definition versus the options given on the online questions. This presents a problem when taking the quizzes because one is subject to answering incorrectly.

Aside from the good learning experience and fast pace of the course, the best part for me was trying to keep myself awake to watch the other students fall asleep in class. Finally in addition to the latter, I was real happy not to have to spend $123.00 on a book purchase for the course.

In my opinion, there was no ugly part of the course itself. However, the only inconvenience was the lack of air conditioning in the class room at the beginning of the course.

The best part of the course was learning a lot about management information systems. I had no ide what Management Infromation system was and I have to say that I was really impressed with the information that was provided to me during this course. Another part of the course that I liked was the fact that we didn't have to do any group work. Finally, I also liked how our homework assignments were very simple.

I didn't like the fact that many people didn't go to class, and that the ones that did attend class regularly didn't get rewarded with extra points. Besides that, I have no other complaints about the course.

I honestly thought the class was great. I think Mr.Kirs makes this class, which contains information that can be overwhelming, simple and uncomplicated. Others should definitely appreciate his teaching style because as we all know not all teachers are as generous with their students.

I really cannot complain about this class. It is pretty straight forward and you are fully aware of what you should be doing to pass. Those who don't pass are really not putting any effort what so ever.

I really enjoyed the managerial applications of Information systems because it really continues to grow within the field and has become a crucial part of the Managerial responsibility to make decisions.

The definitions on the test seemed to generally only follow the word for word definitions found in the quiz reviews and they left no space for interpretation.

It was very new to me, had alot of really good information. The course provided insight on future careers. I think that everything ran pretty smoothly, except for the computer complications we had at the end regarding be able to see our grades and what not. I think the main complaint I have about this course is just the tone of the lectures, sometimes a bit hard to follow if you didn't get enough rest the night before. I am happy that I didn't have to purchase the book, but also wish I would have saved myself some money.

I like the respect given to the students. You allow us, by student consensus, to have a say as to whether or not to have a test on a given day or week based on class progression. Exposure to different customer and workforce databases (we currently work with SAP, VERINT, and GMT Planet, Peoplesoft at work) has led me to look at competitors for more information. This is helpful information to have when the current database vendors come in and try to pitch their upgrades to the workforce management department. I feel a bit more knowledgeable and know there are other options now.

Although I understand this is meant to be an overview course one of the biggest challenges I have encountered is Management not knowing how to talk to their IT and Reporting guys. A lot of times Managers don't know what they want out of these departments. Likewise It and REporting dnt always know what management needs. I think some focus on planning for the needs of a business and learning how to manage the relationship between technical and managerial personalities would help the students engage more with the material as well as offer them some much needed prep for entering the workforce.

This course has been very interesting, especially for me who is contemplating on a double major, CIS. The topics discussed have given me the understanding and importance of CIS, its history, and how technology and computers have evolved, especially in the last decade or so.

I am very discontent the way my grades have been handled in this class. This semester has been the first I've gone to see a Professor way too many times about the many discrepancies with my grades. The TA, Brandon, who's job is to grade exams, post grades and keep student records is too lazy to do so. His lack of attention, lack of doing his job on a timely manner, or lack of availability to attend to student needs, has not only affected my educational progress but concern of how a person like him can manipulate and play around with students records. When I've gone looking for Brandon, after talking to Dr. Kirs, he is no where to be found and no one seems to know his whereabouts nor work hours to be able to meet with him on my educational matters. Brandon does not care about how his laziness and unavailability during his work hours affects a student's educational progress. It should have not taken him three weeks or so to post our 2nd exam grades nor all the other on-line assignments that were due, nor taken another 2 or 3 more weeks to update our grades after that. Who is in charge of overseeing his job or lack of? His lateness on posting grades, lack of attention to job duties, and having no respect for students has me very bothered. Why is he so priviledged to behave in this manner? He keeps all student exams and scantron sheets just thrown inside his desk drawer, without regard of confidentiality. Also, I don't know if Brandon was in charge of putting the slides together, but some had mistakes or information was duplicated. Ever wonder why tests get in the hands of students before testing? Employees like him are those who contribute to the cheating scams that go on at the University. It's apparent Brandon has no work ethics and should be removed from his TA position immediately. What is COBA going to do with lazy, irresponsible, and disrespectful people like him? If he's a TA, then that means he is a graduate student and by now should have learned professional work and business ethics. After all, he is a Business graduate, where professionalism is one of the main skills a student should learn and acquire during our studies. We are taught good but what we choose as students to learn is another. How shameful that many in this day and age have jobs because of who they know and not what they know or perhaps their parents may know someone who can pull strings for them and keep them employed. It's pathetic. Brandon is a very arrogant, despot, and irresponsible person to be working in a position like the one he holds. He knows he has not been doing his job on a timely manner and has done sloppy work. He is conniving, manipulative, and a liar who is trying too hard to convince Professor Kirs he is not at fault for whatever has happened throughout this semester. Rest assure, if other students are asked about grades, they can express similiar behavior coming from Brandon's part.

The ugly part of the course was that most of the class did not attend most of the classes. They only came when there was an exam. For me, it was very unfair because I did not go to class for 2 or 3 classes at the most. The rest of them, I did glady attend your class. :)

The loose schedule was hard to deal with. We always had to ask when the references, quizzes, and test where due. This made it hard to figure out what and when we need to study for the quizzes and ultimately the test that popped up every time.

I enjoyed learning through power points in class as opposed to having to buy a book and reading it. The slides and practice quizzes were good sources to study from for the exams.

Bad_Points

It was super hot in that little class room.

Bad_Points

the bad was that we never had a definate date when things where due. we didnt even have full grades up till the last 2 weeks of the semester. no one knew their grades by the drop period which for some that might have made a difference whether to stay or to drop the class.

have a set syllabus that allows students to see and calculate their grade. Have grades up constantly not just till the last 2 weeks of the class.
